Simon & Kim's Global Adventure
From Toronto we were able to get on the Greyhound bus to Niagara falls so we didn't have to fork out money for a tour. Whilst on the bus we chatted to James and Sarah a lovely English couple and ended up spending the day with them.
From the bus it was a short walk to the falls. From the Canadian side we could see the Bridal Veil Falls situated on the American side, and, further along we could spot the more impressive Horseshoe falls. We decided to go on the Maid of the Mist boat which sails as close to the falls as possible. The boat was crowded and the mist was so intense we could hardly see a thing. Thankfully we were given plastic ponchos to keep us dry. We were told some facts about the falls and stories of people, children and adults, who had jumped over the edge! Some survived and some didn't! After the boat tour we made our way up to take a closer look at the Horseshoe falls although sadly the mist was so intense we couldn't see the full shape or drop. Apparently the temperature of water and air effect the amount of mist. Si was majorly snap happy catching the falls from every possible angle! After lunch and headed back to the bus station. We ended up just missing a bus and had to wait three hours for the next one. Luckily there was a local pub across the road so we had a few beers. Back in Toronto we grabbed some dinner and sampled a few more beers with Sarah and James before heading back to our hostel.
