Had a lovely day in Napier today, mostly walking my little feet off!! Went up to Bluff Hill lookout in the morning after a really nice breakfast. Bit of a trek up a few hills, and I got a bit lost (signposts in NZ seem to be a bit strange, or perhaps it's just me?) so it did take me a little longer than it should have! The weather wasn't quite as nice as it could have been - a bit cloudy but at least it had cooled down so I wasn't sweating half my body weight ...

Got to Gisbourne ok but had a small heart attack when the taxi fare to the motel where I was staying was just shy of $20!! Talk about an expensive night's sleep! When I got to the motel reception, they said that was quite extortionate and that it shouldn't be that much. I thought it might have been about $10, but twice that much! Crumbs. The motel was very nice in any case, and the managers were really friendly. However, not much to do here without a car to...
