Zvi Josef's Travels
Hey y'all. :)
We said goodbye to Beijing on Tuesday morning, headed for the airport to take a flight to Xian (which was delayed by an hour...).
Upon landing we took a bus to central Xian and then spent 30 minutes trying to get a taxi and walk to the hotel in a blazing heat of almost 40 degrees.
We ended up taking a 1$ Tooktook to the number 1 hotel in Xian (arrived in style).
We originally booked a luxury room but since we're Accor A|Club members, we were immediately upgraded to a junior suite, which was awesome. :)
10 minutes after we got the room, Ami opened a drawer and found 2 used socks there!!! They were probably left by a previous guest... . While we laughed it off, the staff was horrified (after all, this IS a 6-star hotel) and all the managers came to see the horror and appologize.
They then decided to compensate us by moving us to a much bigger suite (which included a bed room, a huge bathroom and a living room with a bathroom for guests). This was awesome, but at around midnight, we descovered that the a/c is not powerful enough, and they were not able to fix it, so we switched room AGAIN, to a smaller (yet HUGE) room, adjasent to the suite and crashed for the night at around 3:00AM. Naturally, we overslept and woke up at 11:00AM, only to find out the management felt dreadful abot this ordeal and they've upgraded us (AGAIN!) to a Club Sofitel room, which basically includes free internet, free breakfast, lounge access (beautiful lounge, BTW) and happy hour from 17:30-19:30. Ahhh, the good life. :)
Dinner was excellent - a medetrreaninan syle buffet, which was amazing (again, 50% off). :)
Tomorrow we're off to explore old Xian, which is supposed to be beautiful.
Cya! :)
