Zvi Josef's Travels
10:00 update.
After a rather good night sleep and a complimentary breakfast at the Sofitel Club, we're off to see the Terra Cotta warriors just outside Xian. There's a lot of built up towards this visit, and I hope we're not disappointed.
Following the visit, we'll hopefully go bike riding on the wall that encircles the old city.
Have a great day! :)
18:30 update.
We're back from the Terra Cotta site. We got there by taking a taxi from the hotel to the railway station (7 RMB) and then taking the 915 bus (14 RMB for the two of us). Notice, we could not find the legit 306 bus, so we went for the "longer" bus, which took apx. 50 minutes to get there.
Upon getting there, we accidentally walked the 15-minute walk to the entrance only to find out we should've taken the other way and buy tickets first (90RMB each!), so we did just that, went back to the entrance and entered what's called "The 8th wonder of the world". Well, alas, the soldiers were rather disappointing. The site itself consists of 3 pits (pit 3 with 3 dozens soldiers, pit 2 with ongoing excavations and pit 1 with supposibly 6000 soldiers). Whatever you do, visit pit 1 at the end of your tour, otherwise you'd be highly disappointed.
After finishing watching the 3 pits, we went to the exhibition hall, where you can see some bronze charriots.
Well, to call this thing an 8th wonder of the world is highly exhagerated. It's a nice site, which is hugely overrated.
After coming back to the hotel, we took a complimentary dinner and drinks, and soon we're off to see and walk the wall after dark. :)
More to come later plus some pics, too.
Cya!
22:30 update.
We're back from a night on the town - went to walk on the great city wall of Xian, then walked to the Muslim Quarter, walked through the market, bought another t-shirt for a great price (25 RMB) and took a really dangerous took-took back to the hotel, now at the lounge.
Tomorrow we're off to Shanghai.
G'night! :)
