Vilanculous, Mozambique
Archipelago Resort
Today's walk around the neighborhood discovered us a dhow being built, a dhow being repaired and a view of the dhows going out for the morning fish / prawn catch.
This scene has a timeless rhythm to it & is has probably not changed for hundreds of years. There is no official recycling but a lot of items are repurposed. The dhow sails are often made of old plastic maize, sugar type bags. Empty wine bottles are treasured for either storage or to sell honey or coconut oil in. Egg boxes, cartons etc I leave in a pile for repurposing.
The resort is quite full now as its SA school holidays. Also a fair number from Zimbabwe who have travelled our intended path from here upwards so interesting to chat to.
