Another day, another turtle expedition. We drove up to Black Rock at the next resort of Ka'anapali and headed to the beach near the Sheraton. Parking was challenging - we drove round for about half an hour before opting for Whalers Village, which was $4 per hour or 3 hours free with validation.
Dean's sandals finally split yesterday, so he was unable to go swimming with Julie and drive back with sandy feet. Julie saw one near the beach an followed it around for ages - only a few feet away. Dean lost sight of her and thought she'd been swept away by the current. Like a knight in shining armour he scrambled over Black Rock, ignoring the signs that warned of the death risk of climbing over the fallen rocks. Still no sign of her at the point, so he climbed up to the highest point and finally found her...sitting back on the beach towels where she'd left him! Dean climbed back the treacherous way he came, reunited with Julie with aching legs, but relieved.
We drove back and had a look at the disappointing Lahaina beach, got offered some marijuana for sale - no thanks - and went to the Lahaina Cannery Mall for a free Polynesian Shoe. It was a bit creepy to see very young girls in coconut bikinis with bright red lipstick, but Julie enjoyed it.
RedBox gave us a free rental for joining, so we rented The Killer Inside Me and had another quiet night in.
