Hey guys!
I can write better now as this time I'm sober ... yay!
Had a big nite out in Bangkok last night with our new tour friends we met yesterday ... we were in the Khao San area where the backpackers frequent doing a pub crawl of some very cool bars that are very westernised. Khao San Road is very similar to Bangala Road in Phuket and full of street stalls, crowded bars and tourists from all over the world. Very noisy and very crazy and every 5 paces you get approched by a Thai guy making a a popping noise with his lips and asking "Hey u want ping pong show?". "
Very amusing!
Brendan and I loved Bangkok and thanks to the few Thai words JD helped me with we've managed to find our way round the city quite well and do some great haggling! It did take a couple of days and tuk tuk drivers taking us for more of a ride then we hoped for (a few visits to tailors / gem shops / no that site is closed today mam stuff) and also with the help of very clever english speaking thai people who stop you in the street and offer to help you get to where you're going after offering you some bogus tourist advise ... next thing u know a tuk tuk just happens to appear from no where to take you to the place he's just told you about ... very dodgy but pretty damn clever too!
Went to Chatachuk weekend markets ... 7000 stalls ... a shoppers paradise but didn't buy much seeing we have to lug it round for another 7 weeks! Also Silom night markets near .... were heading to Patpong but didn't make it as was mesmerised by all the shopping again ... oh and stopped for a massage. Also been to Siam Shopping Centre.
Unfortunately shopping isnt as cheap as previous when its now 20 to 1 instead of 30 to 1 but still bargains to be found!
We left early this morning for Cambodia and now in Siem Reap ... pretty amazing trip crossing the border overland and seeing traditional Cambodia people working around the place ... a lot different from Thailand but very interesting to see.
We heard that a couple of hours after crossing the border that fighting broke out at another crossing between Thai and Cambodians over the temples and that all borders will now have extra security. We could see the trucks of Army soldiers heading off for this so will have to stay tuned to what's happening on the news ... sorta hard when its in Khmer though. We are safe though but all very fascinating to see.
Siem Reap is a very beautiful city with a French influence - off to Angkor Wat tomorrow to see the temples :0)
Internet is super slow here but will post some pics soon.
Love you all xoxox
PS. My global roaming is not working!!!
