We sadly departed Carcassonne this morning after enjoying some amazing gastronomic delights last night for dinner. I am a huge fan of the local cassoulet and have done Heidi a favour and found the recipe so that we can try it back home.
This morning saw us try to leave during a local TGV train strike which made the heart race a little as we tried to find out what we were supposed to do. We jumped onto the first outward train we could, making our way to Narbonne where we hoped to get some answers. Well after three stories from three people we went straight to the person wearing a suit at the station and immediately had our first class tickets replaced.
We were off to Marseille. If I had a choice though and didn't already have accommodation booked we would of happily stayed in Carcassonne. Marseille is a bit grubby and really hasn't taken our fancy. There doesn't seem to be a lot of pride in the city as there is rubbish and crap everywhere. Can't have everything I guess. We're heading out tonight to sample the local seafood then it's off to Nice tomorrow.
