Well another fantastic trip. We went out to Phillip island which is just off to the east of Melbourne and is linked to the mainland by a bridge. The island itself is beautiful with very nice houses and lots of green spaces. We went to see the tiny penguins come home from the sea and return to their burrows. It was quite a sight. These penguins are only about 12" tall - not much bigger than the pigeon that sits in our back garden. However these little guys had been out in the sea since dawn fishing, then at dusk return en masse and walk up through soft sand and then undergrowth to get to their burrows. Prior to that we stopped off at a small animal zoo where they had koalas, emu, kangaroo, dingos and all that kind of Aussie animals. I stroked a kangaroo! Catherine was not impressed and kept her distance. All in all a great day and the weather was perfect - cloudless but chilly on the beach waiting for the penguins.
Not having much joy with regular Internet connections as the ipad is a bit big to lug around all day. I knew I needed an I phone!!
