Just spent my last day in Takayama, which is an amazing place. Yesterday when I got here I went to a place called Jackson which is a curry house. There was no English menu and no pictures but luckily the chef spoke some English. I ended up having the most amazing chicken Katsu curry ever for less than a tenner.
I spent the day exploring the town and walking down the edo period street. There is also a walkway that goes past a lot of the temples in takayama which was more or less a road full of temples. Unfortunately it was raining all day today and it had been snowing so when I went into the park to see the castle ruins I got soaked and it was very difficult walking up some of the icy paths in just my trainers. And the castle was so ruined there wasn't actually any ruins, just signs telling you where the castle used to be. I was not happy. But after the park walking down the edo streets made up for it. The town is only small and there aren't any particularly high buildings so walking down the street felt like another world. Another world where there are loads of Japanese tourists but still.
Takayama is awesome and hopefully everywhere else is just as good????
