Up at half 8 for breakfast, staff were lovely here they loved us how loud and boisterous we were in the dining room. Packed our stuff up and headed to 'Mr Tony' our main man with the bikes. Bas had to change a tyre but apart from that we were good to go! Fully anticipating these bikes would break down a lot over the next month but Bas broke down just 5 minutes into the journey ha! His accelerator cable snapped. Took ages which we were puzzled about until he came back and had been smoking a bong with the mechanic! Standard Bas! Hit the road and it was CRAZY in Hanoi you need eyes everywhere and I mean everywhere. Had a few stops off one place was so similar to Myanmar the locals were fascinated by us taking pictures adding us all on Facebook I now have 5 Vietnamese teenagers on my Facebook liking everything I put on! Then another stop we by chance stopped at an orphanage. They welcomed us in and the kids were so playful we were showing them pictures of our home life and they were glued to our phones and interested. Nice to see apart from the locals telling us via Google Translate on our phones which we use to communicate with the locals that they were offering us to buy a child for seriously low money which was awful to hear. Towards the end of the ride we were blown away by the views they were incredible as good as in Pai I reckon we just kept stopping to take it all in. When I stopped with Guus at one point, my bike just stopped working we were about 20km from Bac Kan which is where we were stopping. Locals were amazing in trying to help we contacted 'Mr Tony' and said to take it to a bike shop in Bac Kan. My bike would need to be pushed so Willem had his leg pushing my bike and when got a bit of speed would kick into gear. We got lost on route and lost Bas and Guus also so for around half an hour we were using 'Find my Friends' to find them which we did they were literally round the corner from when we were starting to get savage! Got some food here as they said to wait and once checked how they were getting on the news wasn't good. They spoke no English but basically were saying it was f***ed Guus had an issue with his bike also but just needed oil but mine needed work on the engine. Using Google Translate managed to understand him and he said he would fix tomorrow morning we got Mr Tony on the phone too to help. A little scam really but he said take it to this hotel to leave overnight and bring back in the morning. Basically we had to stay at the hotel also which wasn't a problem as it was 35,000 dong so £1 and it had air con, private room for all 4 of us and was spot on!
