Shane and Sarah's Adventures
Hi Everyone,
Well the last week has been full of events and have passed through two countries.
Zanzibar was fantastic and we certainly put the wedding money to some good use and splashed out on some luxury at Nungwi Beach for 3 nights. It was a nice time to get off the truck, wash all our dirty clothes, eat very well, get very sunburnt and relax on the idylic beach there.
After 3 awesome nights we then made our way back to Dar es Salaam for a night and then headed for Malawi. Malawi is absolutely beautiful, very green, lots of ranges and a bit more wet that what we have experienced so far. The first night we stayed at Chitimba Beach on the Lakeside. The lake is apparently 20% of Malawi and you definitely see this when driving down the coast how big it really is. We then drove on to Chintheche Beach and stayed there for 3 nights. It was great to just relax right on the lake and take it the amazing scenery. The second to last night the truck had a dress up party with clothes we had bought from a market place that were absolutely hideous (taffeta blouses etc). It was very very funny seeing the boys in hideous dresses and skirt combos and the girls looking like vicars wives from the 1980s!. The next day I went for a 2 hour horse trek with a couple of the girls and we trekked through some villages and then down on to Kande beach on the horses. We also took them into the water swimming which was fabulous as I have never done this before.
We crossed the border to Zambia yesterday and tomorrow will be getting on some house boats on lake Kariba for 2 nights before heading to Vic Falls.
Having trouble uploading the photos for Zanzibar and Malawi from this Internet cafe, so will add to our site as soon as we can. By the way, we have added more to the Masai Mara (Kenya) and other albums so be sure to go back and have another look!
Will write more as soon as poss.
Lots of love
Sarah and Shane
