?Hola! ?Que tal? As we promised, we have made our way to Bariloche, a beautiful lakeside town in the heart of the famous Argentinian Lake District (an area shared with neighbouring Chile). Didn?t get here as fast as we anticipated. We may have mentioned in an earlier postcard that we avoided a 36 hour bus ride from El Calafate to Bariloche by opting for a 1.5 hour flight for little additional expense. Well, luck would have it that it snowed heavily on the night before our flight (as can be seen by the snowman photos in the photo album) and to cut a very long story short, the flight was delayed by 24 hours. Didn?t bother us though, the flight company put us in the best hotel in Calafate. You should have seen the local people, they were so happy to be staying in that hotel which at around USD130 per night is well outside most of their budgets. They were taking photos of the hotel foyer, the restaurant and the breakfast buffet! Really proves how lucky we are to live in economy?s where staying at these types of hotels is quite feasible. Just been relaxing here in Bariloche. The snow isn?t that great so snowboarding hasn?t really been an option. We did take the cable car up to the top of Cerro Campaniro to enjoy a view rated by National Geographic as being within the top 7 views in the world. Not sure how you rate a view but we were pretty impressed, it sure is an incredible view of the surrounding lakes and Andes (check the photo album). The sun is out and its a lot warmer than the far south. We?re off tomorrow on a bus across the Andes and in to Chile (to a town called Pucon). The lake district from the Chilean side is supposedly more stunning than the Argentinian side (?) so we?re off to check it out. Hasta luego Shane y Sarah xx
