From here we headed up the coast to the infamous Phuket. We avoided the dive that is Patong and headed instead to Kata beach. A nice spot that's not too crazy, even though it's clearly just a tourist place with only hotels, restaurants and massage places on our street. It's here that Shane got his first regular sightings of the lady boys...have to say most of them aren't too convincing so we are expecting better as we head further north!!!

We hired a scooter during one of the days here (we wore a helmet the whole time dad!!!:) sorry for letting it slip we were doing it beforehand-Phil) We headed up to see the Big Buddha and get great views of the whole island. From there we headed slightly down the hill for breakfast with a view (noodles and a chicken burger as you do!!!)....from there we discovered the south of the island, mainly lovely beaches and great look outs....the only problem was that the sun was so hot we only had to be off the bike for 5 minutes and it was so hot we could hardly sit back down!! So we were taking fairly quick stops!!! It's a bit scary being on a bike, but Shane drove very well, even when we had to be very brave and cross the road...something Thai people don't always bother with, as they tend to favour just driving on the road, not bothering with which side of the road they are meant to be on!!

That was about all there was for us in Phuket.....next up we were taking a break from the coast and heading to the rainforest.
