From there it was up to Brisbane to meet up with Ivy, Heather and her girls. We were very kindly put up by Ivy. They were kind enough to show us around the city a bit, including the crazy beach that they have made on the river banks in the middle of the city!!! (Seemingly driving an hour to the beach is not acceptable here!!!!) We also got taken up to Mount Coot-tha where we saw the sun set and the city turn into lights. It was a bit mad seeing how much the river meanders through the city, which really brings home how the floods have done so much damage the last few years. It was amazing to see how high the water level had risen, to see jetties in places that they shouldn't be, like up at the top of trees and how much damage was done to parks etc.

From there we did a day trip to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo. It was great to take a walk around here, the midday show that they do with the animals is super. It is sad to think that you no longer have a chance of meeting the great man himself, but it is great to see that the place is still going strong.
