So we finally left Vietnam, but not without a few moments!!! We got picked up from our guesthouse early, and by picked up we mean that a fella on a motorbike came along and we had to follow walking and carrying our bags...(hockey girls take note this may be a technique that Phil brings home with her!! Would mean we could get a lot more 'picked up' at once!!!)...he stopped us in front of a hostel and drove off...so we assumed that meant we were getting picked up there....but no he came back about 30mins later and we walked, sweating madly under the weight of our bags, to the next place....where we did get picked up by a bus....which then proceeded to drive past our guesthouse road, about 20meters from where we had started....don't you just love travel in Asia!!!
After that the journey to Laos was long and mostly unpleasant, thanks to our 'charming' bus conductors...let's just say they missed charm school altogether and had a distinct dislike for tourists!!!
Vientiene was our first stop in Laos, and to be honest there isn't really much to the place!! The main 'highlight' is there version of the Arc de Trimuph, which in reality is a half finished structure, made from concrete donated by the Americans to build an airport!!!
