Heading to 1770 in Agnes Waters will take us through Mackay, Rockhampton and Gladstone where I will be picking up my new long distance glassess from the OSPM there - great job OPSM very impressed with the service.
On our way we stop at 2 free campsites to break away from the Caravan Park mayhem, the first one being Notch Point camping on the Marion Creek - a very tidal creek, and yes crocs but didnt see any but set up well away from the edge and the second being Calliope Bridge River area, it was quite busy but we found a very nice spot under a great shady area and had no neighbours around us.
We headed off the next day early to call into Gladstone to get my glasses before heading into Agnes Waters and 1770 camp ground which is set on the beach.
We visited Captain Cooks landing site at Bustard Bay and took in the great views with a lovely walking track to the lookout, the Museum, the Marina which has a memorial sitting area for past volunteers of the community and a distillery.
We plan our next destination being Hervey Bay and Fraser Island and doing some 4wd and camping.
from the great outdoors
