My last night in Australia (9th) I spent trying to get my things into my bag and I went to say goodbye to Ryan. We finally made it to the Asian Beer Cafe! God I wish we had gone here sooner! It was Asian themed (obviously) but the food and drinks were ridiculously cheap! Ryan had to go to work tonight but he stayed with me for as long as possible and I had the arduous task of packing my things for home and deciding what I could dump...(donate sounds better) somewhere. I did go to his work and see him before I went to bed as my bus ride to the airport was something silly like 7am. I'm going to miss Ryan, he introduced me to many things in Australia such as the delights of random dodgy food and watching AFL. I understand the rules now but am not yet committed to any team!
The bus was late picking me up in the morning (10th - almost on Thai time I thought) and I made it to the airport where I checked in and grabbed some breakfast. You can get a beer that early in the airport? Don't mind if I do since it's going to be a LONG DRY flight! The flight Brunei went quite quickly despite being next to a family with small kids who kept screaming and the stop over time wasn't too bad. Apart from the fact that the airport in Brunei is rubbish! There was practically nothing there and what was there was closed! The most interesting part of the journey was what happened in Dubai. Dubai airport is massive but to be honest we didn't really see a whole lot of it. I shouldn't laugh because this wasn't funny but in hindsight it's funny how stupid some people can be. There was a queue at the top of the escalator and people couldn't get off and started to 'pile up' at the top. There was a lot of screaming but people still kept getting on it and crashing at the top despite being told to stop!?
The flight to London was ok, I slept a little bit and watched a few movies but was past being tired at that point. I made it back to the UK and sailed through customs which is great being an EU passport holder! My dad and brother came to meet me and I realised while waiting for them that you know when you are back in the UK when you see a fight break out between a chauffeur and a random woman in arrivals!
This is the end of my great escape at the moment, but only a temporary break in the journey. There are still many more places to go, things to do and things to see and I hope to continue again once my money situation gets a little better! I have loved diving in Thailand, National parks in all countries, Dangerous moped driving and some of the people I have met have made the experience memorable...oh and I will miss the nasty 7-11 $1 coffees!
There are no goodbyes because this journey is incomplete...it is just...to be continued!
