After another bad nights sleep in which I had changed rooms into the Backpackers Dorm, it was too hot and someone came in very late and started crashing round in the dark, it was a very early start to the day. Meeting at the Dive shop for 6.30 am was not my idea of fun!
After getting on the boat, we headed over to Red Rock and sunk underwater to our first Dive site. Once again I was reminded just why I got up so early. The magic of being underwater and seeing things you just cannot express in words is well (to express in words lol) overwhelming. We were at Red Rock for over 40 minutes and it seemed like hardly any time at all. I was worried I wouldn't be able to do the underwater skills of removing my mask but since Mitch and Tom (the nice instructors) has found a work round for me I smashed those skills no problem! We saw a spotted stingray which is sandy in colour with some purple dots on it, the underwater hand signal for spotting one of these is similar to flipping the bird so thank heavens Mitch explained that before descent!
The second site of the day was at White Rock and yet again as we went into little caverns in search of marine life I was left in awe as we hovered right above a sea turtle! I could have cried, but I would have flooded my mask! *laugh* Getting back though was a good feeling and we all celebrated successfully becoming Open Water Divers with the Davy Jones Locker Centre. Tonight we get to watch the goofy video that we had made during our last two dives and I have also signed up for the Advanced Open Water Diver course starting in a couple days which takes me to 30 metres! Can't wait!
The picture is of our group of Divers who qualified today and the instructors who taught us over the last 4 days. These poses are apparently our Superman poses?
