The dive course started officially a couple of days ago with some theory assessments on learning how to use your equipment and what Decompression sickness and Nitrogen Narcosis was and how to spot if you have it - very important (and this is not sarcasm!).
Yesterday saw us mastering our Open Water Skills in the Pool next to the Davy Jones Locker bar. I will admit that diving has not come naturally to me and I have found it difficult with mastering the mask skills. My problem lies in that I don't like water getting inside my nose and I thus panic. Unfortunately the Open Water course requires you to take your mask off and also flood the inside which makes it rather difficult for me to do. However, after some extra training and a little work around I smashed it and was able to dive today!
Diving began at the Japanese Gardens and took us down to about 12 metres in depth. It was amazing to see all that vibrant life underwater, so many colourful aquatic animals just swimming on the reef. After which we went to a place called The Twins. We saw a spotted stingray, angel fish and we definitely found Nemo!
Tomorrow we have the last of our dives to complete on the course, a further 2 dives somewhere to the North of Koh Tao with a 6.30 start. At some point I will have a decent nights sleep! After all I have said I will be here for 3 weeks!
