Executive Summary

• Backpacking as a 32 year old - if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...and don't reveal your age unless asked.

• Having said that, joining a bunch of 20 year old Americans shouting 'Spring Break!!! Wooooooooo!!!' takes a great deal of alcohol and the acceptance that, a lot of times, you're just not going to have anything in common and, frankly, that's not a bad thing.

• Walking down the street in Rome is not unlike driving in South Africa - take a deep breath, commit to moving forward, and hope you don't run into a motorcycle/delivery truck/cow/pothole

• Food consumed: pizza (patate e salsicce!), spaghetti carbonara (meh), gelati x 40000000, artichoke and salsicce gnocchi (now we're talking!)

• I hear Canada's nice this time of year...

• My 5 years of French helps me not a whit in Italy, but luckily EVERYONE speaks English.

• Oh, yeah, I saw the Vatican and the Colosseum.
