The journey to Luang Prabang, so glad I took a anti sickness tablet. We had to drive through a very large mountainous area. So at some points, it was so bendy, it felt we were doing full circles, up so high my ears had popped. You can imagine my amazing view though. We drove through so many tiny villages, in the most basic conditions I've seen yet this trip. In most of them, there was a communal hoes pipe outside where people we showering. The journey was meant to take 7 hours, but only took 5, I'll leave it there about the driving techniques. It was pure luck we didn't hit anything going round a bend, as there's no mirrors on the blind ones. But anyway arrived safe and in one piece.
Arrived late and wanted some food, a guy could see I was a little lost so pointed me in the right direction. Really was a great spot, down a little ally, all you can eat Lao buffet for £1.20. Bargain, definitely ate there again.
I've enjoyed Luang Prabang, kind of reminds me of Hoi An, but has a French influence instead. Lots of nice clothes shops, cafés ad wine bars. It is however, very touristy but still very cute. Spent my first day walking along the Mekong River, I went up the phosi mountain, not as hard as it sounds, just a couple of 100 steps to a temple. But the views at the top were amazing. Also went for a foot massage (which was more of a calf massage), where I bumped into two English girls, exchanges names as we went to the Kuang Si Falls Waterfall together the next day. Without a doubt best waterfall I've seen to date. Massive, interesting and so so blue. Had a little hike to the top as well to see where it all came from. That evening we all went and had a wonder round the massive night market that fills the Main Street every night.
Last day, and a second attempt of getting up for a morning yoga class at utopia, this time successful. Such a cool bar, set right on a river, all open with cool beds to sit on. After yoga I chilled out on the beds, reading and ate breakfast. Such a hard life. Had another walk round the old quarter and down some back streets. Went to check out Vat Xiengthong (The Golden Temple), which was nice and had some lunch before heading back to the hostel. Just waiting to be picked up and taken to the bus station. Ummmm not sure how I feel about getting a 12 hour sitting over night bus.
