Hello!!
Well, yesterday after Megan and I went to eat...I cleaned up my room, showered and hung out. It was so nice to not have to do anything and have the entire day free. I went to dinner at 6:30pm and after dinner decided to go to the Junior Common Room, where there is a pool table, computers, chairs, and a tv. People were watching Spiderman 3, so I watched that for a while. I was still pretty tired, and some of you may be happy to know that I didn't go out! After Spiderman, I was pretty tired and decided to head up to my room around 10pm. I planned on going to sleep, but I called Jen instead. She was pretty excited to hear from me because she was falling asleep on her way home to Sioux Falls and was trying to call everyone. We talked for a while and had a lot to catch up on. It didn't help too well with my minutes, but it was good to hear what was going on back at home! After talking to her, I laid in bed and read my book, "My Sister's Keeper." It is such a good book, so far! At midnight, I called Max and wished him a Happy Birthday...England time. :) He told me it wasn't his birthday yet, but in my time..it was! After I talked to him for a little bit, I fell asleep. I was soo tired and had class the next day. I woke up at 6am...only because I set my alarm to call Max...which would have been 12am (the 28th), central time. He didn't answer, but that was fine with me because by the sound of my message...you can tell I am half asleep. I reset my alarm for 7:55 and went back to bed. When my alarm went off, I could hardly believe it!
I got up, got ready and went to breakfast. When I got into the classroom, we all realize that it was pretty hot. We learned later that the air conditioning was not working. It was soo hot and stuffy! The windows didn't open and there were no fans. I was falling asleep and it was so hard to concentrate when it was so hot. We got through it and between classes they were supposed to fix it. Between classes, Megan, Megan, Stephanie, and I went to get bottles of water. We went to Boots, but they didn't have the huge bottles of water that Megan and I wanted, so we headed down to the local grocery store. We picked up a 2 liter bottle of water for 89 pence...a great deal! The next class was a little cooler because they opened the back fire exit door to give us some air flow and with about 20 minutes left of class, they fixed the AC. Luckily for us, Dr. Horsewood was nice enough to let us out 10 minutes early.
After class and lunch, I went back to my room and was able to take a 15 minute nap. I was obviously pretty tired because I normally can't fall asleep that easily. When I woke up, I put on my green t-shirt and tennis shoes and met up with everyone. Today, we were all going to play football (soccer) against Duke University and Virginia Tech..who also had programs here at Oxford. Obviously, you all know my great skills in the game of soccer, so I originally didn't sign up to play. Later, I regretted my decision when I realized that if you signed up to play, you got a free t-shirt! haha...Anyways, I did want to play, so I wore clothes to play just in case some team needed an extra person. During the 2 mile walk, the girl in front of me screamed and jumped and when I looked down to the sidewalk...I saw the biggest pile of dog poop that I had ever seen and was extremely happy that I was able to walk around it. I definitely would have stepped right into it if Molly had not screamed! One of the girls behind me, Jess, unfortunately did step in it. After we finally got there, I sat down and found out a team needed an extra person. I joined the team and played. It was hilarious...I am so bad, but it was a lot of fun! Most of our team either did not play soccer or had not played soccer in a very long time...so it was pretty interesting. The other team (Duke) was super hard core and constantly were yelling things like, "down the line" and "across". They obviously had played before...many, many times. Let's just say the ball mostly stayed on our defensive end. The outcome of the game?....5-0. Them. Well, we got killed...but all of us had a ton of fun and I am definitely going to sign up for next Monday's game. If we won, we would have kept playing...but it was single elimination. I stayed around and watched some of our other teams play, and I got my free t-shirt! After a while, we walked back and I was able to shower. I took a cold shower because I was so hot and sweaty. It felt amazing! It has been really hot here lately...well hot for England, which is in the 80s. After I showered, I went to dinner that leaves me to this. Tonight, we are going to the Jesus College pub, and who knows where the fun will end tonight. Happy Birthday 22nd Maxwell!! Your getting OLD! Love you :)
Hope everything is going well with all of you! Love and miss you all!
Sarah
PS. If your bored and looking for someone to send some mail to....anything...could just be an envelope...I know someone who lives in Oxford right now that would love some! ;)
