Sarah's and Becky's Travels...!
On our last few days in Ko Tao we hired motorbikes and tried to get to some of the bays round the island. This proved to be easier said than done, as there is only one proper road on the island, the rest are dirt tracks full of pot holes - we felt like we were doing motocross rather than a relaxing drive to the beach! However, it was so much fun!! Despite having a fall each, we eventually made it to Shark Bay which was absolutely stunning and worth the effort!
We also saw some Thai boxing which was awesome!! Small, but very muscular Thai guys fight to traditional Thai music - we even got to see some knock outs! We were getting very into it and shouted out in encouragement lots!
The next night...Sarah got a tattoo!!!! It's a bamboo tattoo so it's not meant to be as painful as a gun tattoo and that was true, until an hour and a half later when it still wasn't done! It's a small pattern at the base of the spine, and its soo pretty!!
We then very reluctantly left Ko Tao and headed to Ko Phi Phi. We were a little worried as it was monsoon season, but we were very lucky and the majority of the time the weather was fantastic! Ko Phi Phi is a small island which was badly affected by the tsunami. Although lots of it has been rebuilt, there is still a lot of work to be done and you can see the destruction it caused. However, it was still beautiful and the people are the nicest people we have met so far!
We had a few relaxing days on the beach before going on a round the island boat trip where we saw Maya Bay which is where The Beach was filmed! We also did lots of snorkeling - there are so many fish here! The next day we went diving (Bec to do diving and Sarah to snorkel). It was a really great day and everyone on the boat was really nice! We saw so much - Bec saw mating octopuses, a leopard shark, a turtle, and loads of other stuff, and Sarah saw a massive eel and a reef shark! Then, just as we were about to head back, a pod of about 20 dolphins swam near the boat, so we spent ages trying to get really close to them to swim with them!! At one point we were swimming above them, but it was really difficult to make them out (i.e. we couldn't actually see them but others were taking photos so we presumed they were there!)...even so it was great fun!
After diving we went up to the view point where we saw the most amazing sunset over Ko Phi Phi. The sky was bright red - we've never seen anything like it!
While here, we also decided to do a Thai cooking class as we've loved the food so much and ended up cooking some great food! We did fried noodles, curries and stirfries - get us!!!
We've also had some awesome nights out with the people from the dive with some hangovers to match - it's been so much fun! At one of the bars they had Thai boxing, but this time tourists were offered free buckets of drink to fight, and it was so funny to watch!
Then we had to think about leaving and again, we were absolutely gutted to go, but we had to and headed to Krabi.
Krabi is famous for kayaking, so on our last day in Thailand we went on a half day tour which was great! We kayaked round and through islands, and through dense mangroves - it was stunning, but we need to have more practice with our steering! We stopped at a cave for some fruit and loads of monkeys suddenly appeared! Our guide then chucked lots of fruit on our kayak and we were suddenly swarmed by monkeys! At first we were really scared, but it was so funny and loads of them had really ugly and freaky looking babies!!! And...did you know that monkeys could swim?!?!
In the afternoon we went to Railay Beach which is apparently the 2nd most beautiful beach in the world - it was stunning and we had a lovely afternoon relaxing on it! It was the perfect last day - however, we are still devastated to be leaving Thailand as every single part of it has been absolutely brilliant! Definitely a place to come back to!
