Walvis Bay and Pelican Point
Sunday mornings are quiet in Swakopmund, at the best of times. But when the fog is thick and it is ungodly early, it is like a desert-ed town (like that? Desert; desert town! Ah well…). Nothing but our lift stirs. With the Lamprecht family collected, we head out to this spit of land for today's kayaking. Past radiply developing property projects, the old town centres and Walvis (pronounced "Val Fis") Bay's salt works and the lagoon, we hit the spit and head for Pelican Point.
The seals here are extremely curious and come out and play. Over and under the boats, bumping and biting the paddles, eyeing the kayakers and a quick splash for their efforts. The Lamprecht boys had a blast….ok, we all had a blast as we eyeballed the seals!
