Our Travels
After breakfast we crossed the sky bridge linking our hotel with Sky City Tower and paused to watch people doing the Sky Jump from above. We took the elevator to the viewing platforms and luckily the weather was clear and sunny and we were able to get great views all around Auckland. Every few minutes another plucky (stupid??) individual would throw themselves off the platform and dangle for a few moments in front of our eyes before being lowered at speed down the wires to the tiny landing stage below. We tried to convince ourselves that this might be a fun thing to do, but somehow we just couldn't see the 'WOW' factor in this when compared with all the truly exciting experiences we have enjoyed on this trip so far and so decided to give it a miss.
By the time we descended once more to street level it was almost time to set off for Eden Park once more, this time to see the All Blacks in action against Australia. Once again we were in the Eden Park Pavilion for dinner. The food was nice, but it is a pity to see so many people crammed in like sardines with hardly any space for the servers to get past. It would also be nice if they could manage to vary the entertainment just a little bit from night to night!!
As for the rugby, New Zealand played well, but we had expected more of a showing from Australia. As it is they didn't really seem to turn up, perhaps they got the wrong night!! So the All Blacks are through to the final, much to the relief of the host nation!!
After the game it was back to the restaurant for more snacks and drinks, but no post match analysis tonight .... perhaps they were all too busy celebrating!!?
