Our Travels
After a super buffet breakfast we were met by Merv, our driver for the day. The weather was not that promising but he did us proud. If it was worth seeing in Auckland then we definitely saw it! From the museums, parks and beaches to the native rain forests, to Pahia and the west coast surf beaches, we saw it all, and Merv managed to keep us just ahead of the bad weather all the way! Highlights for us were a huge gannet colony and wine tasting at Nobilu and Cooper's creek before making our way back to the city to get ready for the evening's big game.
After a quick change, Merv dropped us off near Eden Park and we were ready and waiting for the encounter ahead. It was a game that England just had to win, and it was a real nail biter. As it was we gave Scotland a good head start in the first half by missing a few penalties, but class will tell in the end and England came through as we always knew they would (well, afterwards with great relief we knew!!!)
After the game we walked the three miles back to the hotel and it was a welcome opportunity to wind down after the tension of the game. Being a supporter is really hard work, you can't let your concentration lapse even for a second!!
