Our Travels
After a wonderful trip all round, today was our last day on the mountain. We were feeling just a little bit jaded after too much socialising round the bar the night before but still ready to go out and enjoy the snow.
We kitted up in all the gear and headed for the gondola accompanied by our new friend Olivier who was having a day off. The snow was coming down and when we reached the top the wind was howling and the visibility was almost nil! Amanda soon realised that she doesn't like skiing quite so much when she can't see where she is going. Nevertheless we followed Olivier's maxim of 'dare to go' and made our way down the mountain following the same route as yesterday with very little mishap. In spite of the poor visibility we enjoyed ourselves so much that we headed back up again and this time took the red run followed by the zig zag path and finished with our favourite run from lift 2 where you can just let yourself go and come screaming down really fast all the way before ending up back at the bottom of lift 2.
We did another couple of easy runs from lift 2, such beautiful and satisfying runs through the woods, before making our way along the path back to Club Med where we stepped straight out of our skis and through the door in to lunch. So easy!! The buffet lunch was very tempting as always and we probably ate too much but never mind as it's our last day. Definitely time to spoil ourselves!
We went out for a final ski later in the afternoon. The visibility was even worse than earlier so we decided to stick with a few simple runs to finish off with and, besides, the muscles were definitely starting to complain as we had been working pretty hard for the past few days. Farewell to those beautiful slopes and the lovely powder snow. It was a sad moment when we handed in our boots and skis. No more skiing until next year and that seems such a long way off just now.
In the evening we enjoyed a lovely farewell buffet in the French style, then another great show and plenty of singing and dancing with the crazy signs well known to all Club Med fans. A pleasant evening round the bar chatting to many good friends old and new and another happy visit to Sahoro was almost at an end.
