Kuala Lumpur is an urban jungle of skyscrapers, shopping plaza's and posh hotels. But between the high rises, traditional Asia is very much present with markets selling everything from sari's to iPads and street food stalls bursting with Chinese, Indian and Malay flavours.
As we do when we arrive to any new location, we found our hostel, dropped off our bags and headed in no real direction.
After walking and not really getting anywhere we jumped on the monorail (our transport for the next few days) to discover china town. After a bit of grub from a street stall it was off to the central market. I got a custom key ring with 'Just a small holiday' (the adopted name for our trip) graffitied on it, before wandering our way through the hundreds of stalls.
Back on the monorail to the city centre to check out the world famous Petronas Towers. We marvelled at them for a while, took plenty of pictures and agreed they looked much better at night.
The next day we visited The KL Tower. The views over the city were pretty good even though it was a bit overcast. We spent the next couple of hours getting lost in Lake Gardens before finally getting a taxi and finding some food.
The food has been amazing. We have eaten all our meals at street food courts. There are many bakeries throughout the city, all offering a variety of cheesecake so my sweet tooth has been fully satisfied! Jazz is also very happy with the amount of fresh fruit smoothie stalls!
We are currently on the bus to Penang, the food capital of Malaysia. I think it's safe to say we're definitely not going to be hungry for the next few weeks! X
