Sam and Brenda's travels
After five days on the train, we have arrived safely in Moscow. We spend the night here, then fly to London tomorrow.
The train trip was actually really interesting and the scenery was amazing. A few of the most interesting were:
- The border crossing in to Russia. It was pouring with rain and there was thunder and lightning. More than ten different soldiers passed through our carriage over 4 hours (in the middle of the night). Felt like right out of an old war movie.
- Lake Baikal - amazing. The deepest lake in the world. Would love to have stopped but still got a good view from the train.
- Train shopping. Most of the Mongolians on the train had goods such as clothing that they sold at each station, with manikins and all. We wondered why there were large crowds of Russians waiting for the train - this is why!
We arrived in Moscow this afternoon and went for a walk to see most of the sights (will try get pics up soon). We wanted to visit the Kremlin but not enough time :( In the morning we need to make our way to the airport to fly to London. Ciao for now.
