In waitomo, a small townsville which there isn't a lot to do, we stayed for one day and one night! although waitomo is a small place with not much to do, the things that there are to do are really sweet! Such as Caving or Pot Holing! We went on a 5 hr caving trip, it was amazing! We started by abseiling down a 40-50m hole! the top of the hole was wide and easy to hang comfortabley in but the middle part decreased in width to around the size that just makes it possible to squeese throguh! Then it opens out again in pitch darkness but we are equipped with head tourches! Once at the bottem we climbed through a bunch of caves, most fairly large until we arrived at a ledge. To get down the ledge at over the underground river, a zip-wire was constructed. so, we flew down the zip-wire, all head tourches had to be turned off for this so complete blackness! safe on the other side, we had jump of a ledge, he didnt really kno how far the water was, it was about 3m!!! so we swam/floated around the cave river for a while finding all sorts of cool s***! Until we reached a water fall!! one-by-one we climbed up the water fall and then the caves started gettin smaller!! we crawled through tunnels whcih were no taller than 1m with water up to about 40cm and up to 20m long!!! we cawled through tunnels and caves lihe this until we came oput the other side of the mountain thought a tiny inlet!! it was such a good day, best so far!!! That night we met our guides in caves for a drink at the local pub and had a jolly good time! The next day we drove to Taupo, on the way we had a pit stop at a rediculous place!! a rabbit shearing factory! i won't go into it! x
