Well this is it now, time to start travelling on my own. Although it didn't last too long! Stayed in a great hostel in Chiang Mai called Julie's Guesthouse. A room cost me £3 for the first couple of nights and £1 for the last night in a dorm. There's a really good communal area at the front where everyone hangs out and I soon bumped into a couple - Laura and Craig. We went for a wander and found out Thai boxing was on the first night we were there. The highlight of that had to be a British guy KO'ing a Thai!
We had a lazy day on our second day and just stumbled upon the Sunday walking Market which is just a huge street market with so many crafts, artwork, clothes and food on sale.
The next two days we went on one of the infamous Chiang Mai treks where we rode elephants, went white water rafting, walked up steep mountains in really humid weather and saw the most amazing night's sky from the top of the mountain including seeing the milky way! We spent the night with a mountain tribe and slept in a hut that seemed to be made entirely from bamboo. It was an amazing experience and although the walking was quite hard work (bearing in mind I'd done no exercise for 3 weeks) the views and the waterfall and ww rafting totally made up for it.
That night we somehow stayed up until 3am playing drinking games, little did we know how much we'd regret this!
