Sam the all star Trecker
The drive to Las Vegas was much better than expected, a little boring at times however! We stopped at the only gas station for miles in the middle of the desert and there was this really cute goat just walking around. He also had a facination with my leg and wouldn't let me go so I took a load of pics of him. Arriving in LV was bizarre. One minute we were driving through the middle of the desert and the next there were lights and massive hotels and Casinos, it was like driving through a massive arcade. There were hugh gold statues and escalators outside and all I can say was that everything was big and extravagant!! It was unbelievable and you have to see it for yourself to believe it. We had picked up a coupon and managed to stay in a nice hotel/casino with pool etc for about 6 pounds a night. It was amazing. That night we went for a chinese in a deserted place where they didnt see many foreigners and the next day we hit the strip!! On the way we popped into 7,11 (a bit like Spar or Alldays) and there were even people in there gambling on machines at 9 in the morning. We started the strip by going into the MGM grand. It was a massive Hotel and Casino with theatre and even a place where they kept their lions. People were gambling all over the place and the grandness of the hotel was amazing. We then walked towards The Belagio (where Oceans 11 was filmed) took lots of pics and sat at the very posh bar and ordered a very expensive glass of wine (in USA standards anyway). There were lots of people who had obviously just been married and celebrating in style. Outside the front of the hotel/ casino there was a massive fountain display which was just fab! We ended up having lunch in the hugh Hard Rock Cafe and then headed to one of the many agents to book a show! Most of the shows were very pricey and Celine Dion and Madonna were also there! We ended up getting half price tickets to watch a show called La Femme (we were advised that it was a little like Chicago and that we would love it!!!!). Anyway arrived back on the strip that night to watch La Femme in the MGM grand and were completely amazed when a load of women practically naked came on the stage and started doing some risky dance! The show was in this small red theatre, which was very cosy, and after reading the brochure (something we should have done before the show) we found out that it was a about the artistic nature of the womens body!! You can kind of guess how the rest of the show went. We were shocked as the clothes became less and less and the three of us sat there and watched some women do a stip show while dancing provocatively around a pink couch in the shape of lips (she ended up all bare!!)!! Well it was definately an experience is about all I can say. The only thing I can think of is that the lady who suggested them to us must have thought we were that way inclined!! The following day we did a lot of sunbathing around the pool and spent hours trying to book our next accomodation (all the tedious things you have to do when you're travelling). The next day we headed off quite early for the Grand Canyon and waved goodbye to the fab Las Vegas but the place we couldn't spend too long for fear of spending too much money!!
