Hello again gang,
We know its been a while since posting an update so thought that we should get straight on it.
So after leaving the Whitsundays we had 14hrs in the pooring rain until our over night bus...not easy with nothing to do and a handful of shops we arrived at 1770 as named by Captain Cook and the year he "discovered" it. Only to find we were actually staying in Agnes Waters, so we took a slow walk to it - only to find it was 6Km away - so a cool 12Km round trip for... not a lot - a few nice views though.
We had planned to do scooterroo (cruising on a harley) but discovered it was fully booked for the times we were there so settled down for a night watching King Kong in the TV room - the DVD kept freezing and eventually halted with King Kong on the Empire State building, so if anyone knows what happens... let us know!! ;)
We then hit Hervey bay, new town means new Irish pub :-0 but still no girlie drinks for Baz. We decided to go for the coach tour around Fraser Island...the leaky tent option was never in the running to be honest! We boarded the bus and went in search of dingo's...which were no where to be seen, before having a dip in lake McKenzie which was lush.
Next came Brisbane where Sally decided to hibenate for several days on the hope of lossing her prickly heat, but after creams and pills its still going strong...boo!!!
We decided to walk the bus tour and pretty much covered it in a day, as lovely as Brisvegas is, there isn't a great deal to do. However, there is beach next to river - in the middle of the city - bizarre!
Yesterday after hitting Byron Bay we decided do a surfing lesson... we are both rubbish and only managed to stand for a few seconds before WIPEOUT! :) The lesson eventually finished a little earlier than expected due to one of the instructors spotting a shark beneath him... eek! :) We didn't even hear the "da dum da dum" like in the movies.
Then finally today we headed up to the lighthouse - another 8km walk but well worth it for the carrott cake at the top, but not if you'd asked Sally half way up when she was throwing a paddy about too much exercise while on hols.
So here we are during our last hours in Byron bay before we hit Sydney baby!!!
Speak soon and missing you...
