And the heavens opened! Landed in cairns to find that it is the start of their rainfall season so floods of rain are forecast! Skinny Dips is a nice resort but unfortunately virtually empty except for Derek and I (unlike the pictures portrayed on their website!) Exploring Cairns today revealed it to be a pretty terrible place, completely devoid of culture, and with the worst excesses of America imported, huge tacky malls selling cheap nasty stuff. Derek is not having a good time of it with problems with his boiler back home and nursing a bad back. On the plus side (!) have booked some tours for the week ahead, but an early night for me tonight given there is nothing to do in the evenings round here.....

Andrew The sky rail is very good and well worth a visit if you've got time/money. I'm with you though re:cairns, I didn't like it and after Sydney/Melbourne it comes across as Hicksville Queensland(which I suppose it is!!!). Hope you're going out to the barrier reef at some point???
