After slumming it in $6 a night hostels for the last month we checked into our 62 floor 5* hotel for three nights and have enjoyed some well needed high quality accommodation. http://www.banyantree.com/en/bangkok/
The little things really make a difference like comfotable beds with soft pillows, a shower with a screen door to keep the water in, a tap which is actually attached to the sink, thick towels, dressing gowns and they even turned the beds down in the evening.
Our room was vast with a lounge type sitting area as well as the bedroom and bathroom. Also the tea bags in the room were not 'lipton' but actuall english breakfast tea - so much better! Had a swim in the 21st floor pool and and thouroughly abused all the extra comforts. Quite a contrast from the rest of Bangkok around us as we are right next to the redlight dist.
We capped it off with an amazing steak dinner and wine in the open air rooftop resteraunt. The author of our rough guide to Asia book, says that its the 'best rooftop bar in the world' and I think we might agree!
