So Cape Town is definitely sunny, which is the good news. Flight not so great, which is the bad news.
To be fair, the seat was great (lovely to have a flat bed) and the staff were lovely and the PJ's are wonderful, but the ear infection still playing up and there was just enough turbulence on a regular basis to make it incredibly hard for me to sleep, so was really ready to get off the plane by about 10 hours in!!!
Got to the Commodore Hotel, at the V&A Waterfront just fine and the hotel is really nice. Okay a little old fashioned, but loads of lovely helpful friendly staff, which I really needed as I was virtually in tears by the time I got here I was so tired. (Bloody ear infection meant I've had very little sleep in the last 4 days).
So, had a bit of a nap this afternoon to avoid the most of the heat and had a chat to 2 lovely ladies from Glasgow who were flying back via Dubai this afternoon to Glasgow after 4 weeks here. There were really nice & calming and sent me off to my nap with lots of encouraging words and friendly suggestions - absolutely what I needed.
Went down to the Waterfront to get some Rand and a couple of bits I forgot (always forget something!!) which is nice and really close to the hotel and am planning a trip to Table Mountain tomorrow. Checked with the hotel staff and getting the "hop on hop off" bus seems to be the best way to do it & to get a good tour in as well. Will have to slather on the Factor 50 though and get my water flask full up!! Oh and wear my hat, it's really quite hot and do not want sunstroke on top of an ear infection.
So, some dinner and an early night for me I think and feel better for my trip tomorrow.
