Had a look around Springfield this morning. As its the birth place of Honest Abe Lincoln, the town, which is a bit of a s*** hole by the way, is still living off his fame. If he wasnt connected to it, I think the yanks would have disowned it by now, or nuked it. Saw his tomb, and was told to rub his nose for luck. His nose is really shiny where the whole of Springfield have been rubbing it hoping the town cease being a s*** hole, but its obviously a myth. Its still a s*** hole. So as it does not work I decided to pick it instead. Might work. If I win tonights US lottery with a jackpot of $450 million, I will let you know. I might even nuke Springfield.
Old road was cool. Not a long trip today but interesting. So many derelict motels. The Belle Air motel was interesting. Went in to photo the crumbling derelict overgrown buildings when we realised there was a whole community of bums living there.
Driving out was like the zombie scene in the tunnel in 28 days later. But without the tunnel, zombies, black taxi or London. so actually nothing like it, but you get what I mean......
Went to chain of rocks bridge which carried the 66 over the mississippi. Very cool. Now a cycle path. If only i'd brought my bike ........
When we got to St Louis, went to one of the main iconic places on the route.
Since 1929, Ted Drews frozen custard has been serving their ' concrete' to travellers of the mother road. Its frozen custard that is so thick, they serve it to you upside down.
It was incredible. No wonder Adam Richman of man v food went there.
Saint Louis is a pretty cool place. The gateway arch on the banks of the Mississippi was so big we couldnt get it all in the lens, unless we were far away.
Town buzzing tonight as the cardinals baseball team were playing in town.
Lebanon MO tomorrow.
