Santorini:
Wow, again the Greek islands truly amaze me. I can't believe the beauty of this place! I have no idea how they constructed all these buildings literally one the cliff faces. If you look into the horizon you can see heaps of white buildings capping the hilltops of the surrounding islands. The first night in Santorini Ross and I met up with the busabout crew again at a restaurant with the most amazing views. I can't even fathom how much effort has gone into the construction of all these buildings, the foundation work must be amazing, the stores, restaurants bars and clubs are position tightly off some narrow sweeping paths. I dont think I will ever experience a place like this anywhere else in the world. Later that night we went off to a bar called highlander for a couple drinks with the crew.
Day two of Santorini was jam packed!! I don't think we could had fitted anymore into this place and I believe we got a great taste of the island. The island is very hilly so we decided to hire a bike a bit more suiting. We got a little suzuki 125 - 4 stroke. I tell you what compared to the scooter we hired in mykonos, this baby was luxury. Good suspension, enough power for the hills, working lights and indicators and the lady we hired the bike off was lovely, gave us a good run down of the island, where to go what to see - away from what the tourists do.
The busabout crew had a day set out and we just followed the bus somewhat and stopped off at a few more sites! Really got a lot out of the day. Started off with a great omlete for breaky and jumped on the bike to head off to the monestry 600m high! Increadible views!! Afterwards hit the black beach for 3 hours relaxing on the beach, grabbed a 20min massage, a banana chocolate and strawberry crepe and a banana smoothy!! Living it up in Santorini! haha .. Afterwards jumped over to the Red beach, very hot red cliffs and a pretty average beach. The busabout crew was gathering after to head to the winery so Ross and I took a quick trip to the Lighthouse to grab some quick shots. We then jumped over to the winery grabbed a sample of 6 wines which we shared, cheese and some goodies!! I dont think you will find a winery anywhere in the world with a view we had here.. OMG! We then jumped back on the bike and took a ride up the east coast and headed over to Oia.
Here we found a little gem of a place. Seafood restaurants right on the water, bbq's going with fresh whole fish and lobsters, fresh seafood in tanks, what a spot!! A little further around the corner we found the spot for a bit of cliff jumping, the water was crystal clear! a short swim over to a rock / island. A spot we wouldnt have explored if it hadnt been for the nice lady at the bike hire place. We then shot back up the hill to soak up the famous Caldera Sunset!! Amazing! We were here with the busabout group, drinks in hand, all the picnic goodies... what a lovely night! We might just have the best group possible.. everyone is so easy to get along with and we all have such a great time everytime we hit the town!!
Afterwards headed off to a couple bars with the crew again.. More fun, momories and good times. Met a girl from New York so depending on whether i head off to there or not sometime, at least I have a good contact!!
Oh yea and our accomodation is fantastic, Ross has honestly out done himself planning this trip!! Cant thank him enough!!
