Berlin
We had heard many great things about Berlin, so on the drive in we had high expectations ! Although we didn't get a chance to go to some of the worlds most famous clubs in the largest nightlife city in Europe, we did get a chance to check out a couple of cool little bars and find a glorious 4 course meal !
The weather had taken a turn 2 weeks ago we were enjoying sunshine and summer temperatures ! Now it was 1 degrees at night and 13 during the day, a fair shock to the system ! Berlin was full of museums it even has an area called museum island which is exactly as it is named! We discovered that most things in Berlin were named simply, like the palace was the great palace, the dome was the Berliner dome and the tv tower was, you guessed it ! The tv tower haha
It really reminded me of Melbourne around the brunswick area, big city sky scrapers, shopping outlets and little funky bars ! People had an alternative approach to life. This was definately highlight by the bars, graffiti and crossing signals. The red snd green crossing signals were famous in Berlin, completely different to anything I had seen ! They had t shirts, key rings, towels, bags etc all made after them.
The graffiti in some areas was excepted, we visited a 10 story abandoned warehouse that was full of street artist who had canvas paintings on display and other alternative artistic models ! We found it really cool, it gave us a great vibe for the culture.
During our time in Berlin we did several tours, a bike tour of the city showing us the main sites and taking us to a beer garden on tiergarten, berlins main parkland. We had a great BBQ mixed plate. The sites we visited were:
