Munich

Friday

Arrived in Munich around 6ish after leaving Verona. We both checked into separate hostels and rushed back to buy our lauterhosen's! I knew they were going to be expensive but fwaa €260!! I did go all out and get the shoes, hat and all! Now these were going to be my clothes for the next 5 days haha!

We got dressed in our gear and went and got some dinner and to test out a stein! We had some Russians sitting next to us, all I can say is that they were real characters :p. Sliding eventually arrived at 10ish and I left to check her in. We returned to the table for a couple more drinks and then hit the hay in preparation for a big day in the tents.

Saturday

It is beer tent time! Early wake up to make sure Alison gets a costume in time. We got to the beer tent at around 10:30am and seriously just snuck in before they closed the enterance and this was only the beer garden! The main tent was packed! We grabbed a table and were there until 1ish. The beers were big, the food was great and we got lucky because the 2 blokes from Munich that sat next to us had a sister who was a beer wench! We were set!

We later left the garden and attempted to enter the tent! After a bit of time we needed the toilet again and from here things are a bit of a blur haha, something hit me like a bus and apparently the other blokes as well. The difference was that when I came out of the toilet I couldn't find anyone, they were supposably waiting for me out the front but I couldn't find them. I remember walking around for a while and eventually walking past this grasses area out the back of the tents, I saw a couple people taking a nap in the park and it looked like a fantastic idea so I joined them! An hour an a half later u wake up, without my hat and check my phone to find a message from Ross. They had been waiting in the same area for me, whoops! Luckily we set up a meeting point and I came strolling along with an ice cream, puffy sleep eyes and a smile on my face :p. We grabbed some food and an expresso and headed to the hostels. Alison, Ross and I grabbed some dinner and ended up in the hostel bar until 3am.


Sunday

We all eventually woke up a title later and took a walk around the city. We were planning on doing a cycle tour of Munich but the tour company didn't show up. We took an open top bus tour of the city to have a better look and get a better idea of this city. The tour was absolute crap and I won't be talking one again, not very impressed. We later walked around the main strip of shops, bought a couple souvenirs and headed back to the hostel. We took a nap break, had some dinner at the augustiner brew house and decided to head out to the beer tents so that when we arrived the next day we would know exactly which tent we would like to spend the day in. We grabbed a few photos and in the end decided that it was going to be the lowenbrau. It was home time from here so that we could get some good shut eye in preparation for the Massive day ahead.


Monday

Today is going to be the big one! We got down to the tents at 9am, this just happened to be an hour before they actually opened, pretty keen right! As it goes my beer talley went something like this:

I have no idea where the time went but before I knew it, it was 11pm, we had survived an entire day at Oktoberfest!

Tuesday
Today we trekked off to visit the concentration camp. It was pretty sam confronting and I am so surprised at how little I actually knew about what went on so many years ago. We saw photos are the various torture methods used, there was the firing line wall with bullet holes in them still, cells, dark rooms and cells. There were pictures of many malnourished prisoners and bodies that were piled high at the crematorium. I am interested to see what Berlin has in store for us now.

The rest of the day was pretty quiet, did some shopping. I had the worst night sleep the night before we left for Paris. I did some washing that was ready at around 9:30pm, went into the room, switched the light in and saw 2 people going at it on the top of one of the bunks, I said I'd return in half an hour. I returned, opened the door and all k could smell was weed I looked down and there were another couple going at it. Again said I'd come back in halfa. Returned again and more people were in the dorm now but the 2 couples didn't seem to mind, needless to say I didn't sleep much. They all woke up at 3:30am as well to leave and catch their plane.

Oktoberfest was insane, I thoroughly enjoyed this stop and i can see myself one day returning to give it another shot haha!
