Mercury Bay
After joining our new bus we headed to the small town of Mercury Bay, on the way we stopped at a strange natural event. The place we stopped was called hot pool beach, what happens is the lava is flowing so close to the surface at one point that it heats up a small river, you then have to dig a little hole and let the hot water make a hot pool for you. If you dig in the wrong place though you get scolding water coming through and you can easily be burnt. It was a strange feeling sitting on a cold beach in a warm pool of water that had been heated by lava not that far below you.
We soon got back on the coach and carried on towards Mercury Bay, once we arrived we could all tell it was going to be a quiet night due it being a small fishing village. Which we weren't really bothered about to be honest, so half the bus sat down in front of the TV and watched Pearl Harbour. Brilliant film.
