14th - 17th March- Kuala Lumpur
hi,
We arrived in Kuala Lumpur at around 6am after taking a night bus from Langkawi. we both got no sleep due to the bus being very uncomfy. we had booked a hotel so we jumped into a taxi and headed there. Unfortunately we once again got into a scamming taxi, but this time we sussed it and asked him to stop and let us out. We then found the monorail so we got on that and it took us a 5 min walk to our hotel. The monorail in Kuala Lumpur is amazing, aircon, extremely clean, consistent and is very very cheap! You can travel from 1 side of the city to the other side for around 75p!
Once we got settled in, we headed on a train out of town to a place called Batu Caves. It was the complete apposite what we were expecting. It was nice but we expected a lot more. It wasn't a problem though as it only cost us 40p return on the train. We got back around midday and we headed to the well known shopping centre called 'Times Square'.
We had a look around the shops and then suddenly came across an inside theme park with rollercoasters and everything. So we quickly aborted shopping and became kids again and hit the theme park.
We went on a really hardcore ride called the DNA mixer which can make people violently sick if they have a weak stomach. And to Brads misfortune, a woman behind him decided to puke up her lunch all over his leg.....lovely. Obviously Brad wasn't best pleased but as you could imagine, Ross found it hillarious!!
Later that evening, we went to the Petronas Towers and we can both say its possibly been the best thing we had seen the whole trip. Absolutely amazing!! The whole building is litten up and you can see it from all areas of the city.
The next morning, we got up at 6.30am and booked our ticket to go to the top of the Petronas Towers later that evening. They only give out a certain amount of tickets out per day so we were priveledged to get 1 each. For the rest of the day we just chilled in the hostel and walked around the city. We went back into Times Square where there was a pool hall and an archery range so we played them for a while.
That evening we headed back to the Petronas Towers and we scaled the height of it to the top. The views from the top were incredible. We have never been so high without being in a plane! Everything seemed so small from where we were standing! Level 88 which was 481m above sea level.
After getting our feet back on firm ground we had a little walk around and found a Marks and Sparks to both our delight! We went straight in and bought Chocolate Bourbons and chocolate Raisins. Lush!
We soon headed back to our hostel and chilled with a beer and watched a film as we had an early rise to catch our bus to Singapore in the morning!
