hello,
Sorry for it being a while since my last entry again, internet is so expensive here and i have been spending all my time trying to sort out flight booking problems i have been having (which i will come to in a minute). In singburi i was paying 15 baht and hour, here it is 120baht an hour. eek.
So we left Ko Lanta a couple of days ago under very grey skys, so was sad i was going to stay in the most beautiful place in the world with the annual monsoons coming. however the trip to Ko Phi Phi was pretty smoth, no few hour waits in travel agents, although i did throw up over the side of the boat (no breakfast and very bumpy ride), with the local boat crew laughing at me as i did so. So as we pulled in to Phi Phi, the sun came out, and so far the weather has been great, which is a relief. i thought when we had the bad weather in Lanta that that was going to be it now, as it is monsoon season, but here on phi phi it is all good. As we pulled in none of us could believe the colour of the water, it is undescribable. the lonely planet guide says 'phi phi is so beautiful it will evoke tears', and it is without doubt the most beautiful place i have ever been to. and i cant even really describe why, i have been to lots of islands here now, and you can even see lanta from phi phi, they are not very far apart, but the water here is pure emerald, like it cant be real. in fact i'm not sure it can be, it is just so.. perfect. So we found a place to stay with two of the swiss girls we met at lanta, and a couple from the uk for a decent price considering where we are. it is just a room on stilts, you can see through the floor boards (you cant drtop anything on the floor as it will go tstraight through), no electricity and no bathroom, just a bed and a mozzy net. but its ok ive stayed in worse, and it is actually quite sweet. So today we took a boat trip to the second Phi Phi island, where the film 'the beach' was filmed, which is not inhabited. again, it is truely beautful. and again i'm not sure quite why. it just is. we got dropped jsust off sure and had to swim in to the shore, which was fun, and went to 'the beach' where theere was a film crewe filming a bollywood movie. i went over and asked what it was, and the man said it was a movie called 'Bonnay'. i tried to hover in the background so look out for me when it comes out. we also went snorkelling and then our long boat driver said 'who wants to go cliff diving?' i was so up for it, it looked really cool. however the three people who went before me all made me more nervous, as they all seemed to get injured when landing. i stood there for ages trying to jump, but in the end i was just too much of a chicken and came back down annoyed with myself. on the way down i found another spot to jump, a lot lower down (about 2 stories high) and jumped there instead! The other people in my group (including lee) all have very nasty bloody bruises, so i am glad i didnt jump off the 30 meteres cliff in the end!
So Lee and i have been having loads of trouble alligning our flights to australia, and to cut a very long story short we ended up having to move our flights to the 20th May, 3 weeks after i originally planned. a little annoyed as i was kind of ready to go now, but i had paid for an internal flight which i couldnt cancel and we would loose out big time and STA couldnt get lee on another flihgt until the 20th (even though they originally told us they had, very confusing) so now we are both leaving from singapore on the 20th. dont worry holly, i should still be back on 8th september and luke and laura in time for you big day.
Going for a meal now where they keep their cats in the fridge because it is cooler, alongside our drinks. but it is the best and cheapest food in the area, and the cats are very cute. I love south east asia.
