Hello all, or should i say G'day!
So we arrived in Brisbane on friday, and spent the afternoon wondering around Brisbane. we are staying with some of Lees family in a little suburb of Brisbane called Samford, which is a pretty little town, and it is nice to living in a proper australian home. We are staying with Lee's mums cousins (get it?), Linda, her husband Colin and their children Shirin,17, and Sarah,20, they also have two other children who arent living at home. they have a really nice home and it is very typically australian. since we have got here we have just been trying to get used to the extreme cold, i am very glad to have an electric blanket on my bed. it is only about 22 degrees here, and so we are happy that the family has a nice wooden fire too.
On saturday, we went to watch sarah and shirin play netball. apparently netball is massive in Oz, and pretty much every girl plays it, so we spent the day watching them play. we also went to the outdoor shop to buy a fleece, which i am really grateful for now and have been living in it ever since. in the evening we went out for a meal which was nice. On sunday Lee and I went back into Brisbane, and spent the day going around the Sunday market, and watched some buskers, and i even got pulled into one of the shows, which involved me holding a single rung ladder for the performer and then throwing him a machette and torch. embarressingly when i threw the machette to him i missed by miles, which he proceeded to make fun of. he then juggled with a machette, lit torch, whilst balancing on a ladder and eating an apple. We then went to the Queensland museum. OnMonday we went back into town and went to the Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, so all very cultural. we then went to the cinema and watched the new terminator film, which was actually quite good, much better than the last which was rubbish. Today we went to see some of Lee's family who he hasnt seen for a long time, it was his great aunt, so that wast nice. and then we went for a walk in the rainforest.
Tomorrow we are saying goodbye to Lee's family and heading to the Gold Coast. After that we are planning to head to byron bay and go on a surf camp, which will give us surf lessons and also take us all the way down to sydney.
That's it! Nothing particularly exciting been happening, just been trying to get used to the cold and enjoying some family hospitality and the fire!!! I am starting to think that i have done my travellign the wrong way round, i should have come to Oz first, where coming from the UK it would have been warm, now it is only going to get colder from now!!!
