Hello everyone
Hope you are all well and looking forward to christmas. We've been busy over the last couple of weeks and we are now having a bit of a rest on Ko Samui. We stayed in Chaing Mai for 2 days. The first night I was playing with a little dutch girl and she thought it would be hilarious to throw our lonely planet guide over the balcony! Don't worry Huckle we got it back. We had a great evening as we went to a place called the Drunk Flower, it had an awesome guitar player who sang some really good indie tracks. Nearly didn't get there as none of the tuk tuk drivers knew where it was until one of them asked someone in thai mafia.
We got a motorbike out the next day, a 400 Honda Steed. Edd loved it, we drove up a windy road to a temple at Doi Suthep and saw some monks. We bought a cool puppet and some lion bookends for the new house. We also went on a windy round trip out of Chiang Mai through the forests. Edd said it was one of the best roads he has ridden.
We decided to go to Pai but when we got to bus station we had to wait for 4 hours for the next bus. The road through the mountains was amazing but scary as the driver kept going onto the other side of the road round blind corners but he seemed to know what he was doing. Found a dorm room to stay in and then went out for drinks. We tried an apple flavoured Hooka which was fruity! The next night we managed to stay in a lovely bamboo hut by the river. By the time we were ready all the motorbikes had been rented out and edd was very frustrated, which is putting it mildly! We rented bicycles but then managed to get a motorbike. We went down some great tracks until one track started to get very rough with river crossings and then it turned into jungle. I spotted a snake and decided to turn back. We went to a waterfall and meet a bloke from Gt Yarmouth which was a little weird. We then went up the most scariest ride I have ever been on. The concrete disappeared and became a steep, rocky dirt track with loads of bumps. But we survived and it was actually quite fun.
We went straight from Pai to Bangkok which took about 17 hours. We got to bangkok at 6.30 and went straight to the bus station to go south to Krabi. Managed to get straight on a bus with a ladyboy hostess which was interesting. Watched independance Day in thai on the bus and got to Krabi at 6.30 in morning after about 28 hours of travelling.
Went over on boat to Ko Phi Phi island and stayed in a wooden bungalow on secluded beach for two nights. When we arrived I did the most stupid thing ever, within 5 minutes of getting intothe water I trod on a sea anemone with big fat spikes. The pain was intense and over the next few days my foot became quite swollen. Edd went on a trip around the islands including Maya bay (The Beach) and monkey island where he got chased by an angry monkey!
Got a night boat to Koh Samui which was very comfortable. Went to a hospital to get the spikes removed from my foot. We have been relaxing in Koh Samui for the last couple of days, we have got fitted for some suits and shirts and edd did some more mental offroad riding. The pictures will be on the site, eddhas been getting annoyed at the slowness of the computers here so we are now off to find somewhere with faster internet. So pictures will be on soon.
Have a lovely Christmas, we are off to Ko Tao for some sunbathing and snorkelling.
See you soon
