Hello everyone

Hope you are all having fun at home. We've been in Thailand for a week now and we are just getting used to travelling and not just being on holiday. We spent a couple of days in Bangkok, first we stayed in a swanky hotel and spent far too much money on beer to get over the jet lag! We visited a massive market at Chatukak and had our first experience of thai food which was very hot. We moved on to prison like accomodation on khao san road, cheap and definately not cheerful. We visited an interesting pub in the evening where we drank a 3 litre beer tower and rosie saw her hot thai food again!

We had a mad taxi driver that took us the bus station to go to Kanchanaburi. He took us to the wrong bus station and drove like a maniac but it worked out in the end. At Kanchanaburi we took a tour to see some waterfalls, the bridge on the river Kwai and hung out the door of a train. We stayed in a lovely guesthouse called the Jolly Frog where we sunbathed in hammocks on the lawn by the river. We had the best curry we have ever had at the Apple Guesthouse, it was a massaman and it beats the bombay hands down.

We tried to make our own way to Chaing Mai from Kanchanaburi via Bangkopk rather than getting one of the guesthouse package bus deals. We went to the wrong bus station again and had to get a taxi across bangkok before finally getting on a 10 hour bus to Chaing Mai. That's where we are at the moment, we got here at 5.30 this morning and nearly got fleeced by some english guy living in thailand. He took us to a guesthouse that was more expensive than he said. We spent a couple of hours there before leaving for a much nicer and cheaper guesthouse down the road. We are spending a couple of days here before heading northwest to Pye. We will stick some photos on next time.
