Today my classroom was Hong Kong city, a crowded city!
I had 1 question the whole day. Here it is: why are there so many Chinese in the world?
I researched it and I found out that in 1950's after the Korean and Chinese war the Chinese leader thought they needed more people to fight so he made people have more babies. Now days if you are Chinese you are only allowed 1 child!
Today one fish died but it wasn't such a big deal. But I know something that was a big deal. My Dad was not here and it was Chinese New Year and we are in China, Hong Kong! Anyway let me stop telling you the bad things, here are some that are cool and good. So as you heard before, it's Chinese New Year. Guess what…
My Mom and sisters and I were brave enough to go out at night on Chinese New Year in China!
Why that is such a wow is because in China at night in Chinese New Year it's almost like you can't breathe! You are mushed with someone so much that you feel like pushing your way through the crowd.
But that's just what we thought was going to happen and it came true when the big show was done but before it was nice and controlled. I forgot to tell you we got a tour on Chinese New Year and they take you to dinner then to a show and you have nice assigned seats.
I liked it because it wasn't just my family and me, there were other people so we made some very nice friends! There were no kids but I still had fun and made friends with the grown ups though. I also made a friend that was a teen. What we were doing is waiting for the dinner at the place we ate at because we were waiting for some more people. So we were browsing around and then we went into a café to get water because I was thirsty. There we found a group of girls but they were not just girls they were cheerleaders for an NFL football team. The Seattle Seahawks. They were going to be in the show we were watching so we got a picture with them then went to go have dinner.
I thought dinner was pretty good. We got served 10 dishes on a round platter that spins. I tried at least 1 bite of each dish. Then when my family and I plus the other people that came with us were done eating we set off to go to the show.
Next thing you know we are watching the amazing performance with a gift bag on our laps. We got the gift from the Cathy Airlines because they were the people that paid for the big show. Inside the little gift bag was a little book that tells you things about Chinese New Year and there was 4 marshmallows that had jelly in them! There was also a flashlight in there and there were 2 things that you blow up then bang together to make some noise.
Anyway I got to see my first float, I think they are really cool! There are so many things I think are cool that I will just name them.
-huge snake
- a lot of dragons!
-all the floats
- the Seattle Seagirls cheerleaders
It was really fun. After the show we went on a really cool ferry ride for the first time. Its really cool!
Then I walk all the way up the hill and straight away I went right to bed.
THE END
PS. Gran. They honor dragons and this year they honor snakes like Captain-O! (she is a snake) They really don't like the number 13 though I don't know why but they do not. World-Rings Bell found out that they eat dogs here so I wonder why are the selling al those puppies? She was checking to make sure none of the food we got last night was dog. They are very polite and everything they hand to you they do it with 2 hands. There kids dont swing on the MTR overhead handles like monkey bars like I do.
PSS. Now my favorite fish died. Her name was Mazy and I named her. She was the smallest of all the fish and I thought she was the cutest! i am REALLY sad she died. Frowny face. I cryed so much. I love her so much that I played a song when i said goodbye then FLUSH she was gone. My Mom has almost given me 1000 hugs but I am still sad. :-(

Jupiter Jen Sorry about your fish, the burial at sea was a nice touch. Your Dad showed us pictures and video last night. I know he really misses you. He is really enjoying sharing these adventures with you. I am at airport flying to Pa and Ri for meetings and to see my kids!, Radioactive Rob is taking care of your house...miss you guys! Xo
Joanne Hey Rosie, I am Jen's friend (Joanne). I met you last summer. I was in China for 3 weeks last summer. Here is an interesting fact: If the mom is an only child and the dad is an only child, they are allowed to have 2 children. If the mom or dad has siblings, only 1 child is allowed. Here is a question for you? What is the weirdest thing you've eaten in China so far?
Aunt DeeAnn I'm so sorry your fish died
Aunt Heather Chinese New Year sounds a little like New Years in New York. You all mush in Times Square and after the ball drops, you have to un-much your way out. I went once and it was too cold. Also like New York, Chinese New Year is the most travelled time of the year -- people go visit thier families - it is a great migration. They do it just like we do on New Years - we travel around and see family. So sorry about yr fish! You know that there are many in the sea, but that doesn't seem to matter when we lose the one we loved. Sounds like a great tour. You are meeting some nice people! Miss you!
Gran Gautney Hi Rosie, Whenever something that we shared life with dies, we mourn because we valued that life. You are definitely a person that values her relationships. That's such a wonderful way to be! I think that your extra tears and hugs to into the universe for all the living things that have no one to miss them when they go! Thanks for the extra PS; I am sure learning so much from your observations of both people and place. Thanks for taking me along from so far away. Our snow this weekend was taller than you. The ocean was wild and beautiful. Miss you, Love, Gran
Paige I am so sorry your fish died. I know it may be hard but you can celebrate the fact that you still have other fish left. The Chinese New Years celebration sounds amazing! I would love to see all of the floats. Which one was your favorite? Miss you! Hope the food isn't too strange over there.
