Arrived bright and early this morning to Charles De Galle airport outside Paris. Due to SEVEN international flights arriving at the same time, we had a very long line and wait to be through Border check to get into France. Made it through, and met with a representative of Gate 1 , who arranged for us to get to our hotel in Paris.
After checking in with our tour manager, we decided to go to the Musée d’Orsay. Our tour guide Edo advised us that it was about a 45 minute walk, and we could make our way to the Seine, and walk along there.
So off we went, first stopping by the Eiffel Tower for a few views. Had a lovely walk passing the many bridges of Paris, as well as several boats on the river, and some lovely restaurants and cafes on the Seine.
Finally made it to the museum. What a treasure! The building itself is incredible. Once a train station, it is filled with fantastic sculptures, not to mention the wonderful paintings, particularly the impressionist, and post impressionist.
Made our way back along the Seine, checking out the famous bridge with the “locks of love”, and stopped at a charming spot for a bite, where I had my first French bread and wine!
Returned to the hotel for a quick nap before meeting up with the rest of our tour for drinks and introductions, and the off for our river cruise!
What a lovely night, as we took in the sights of Paris from the water. Got to see the Louvre, and Nôtre Dame, as well as many others up and down the Seine, finished by the illumination of the Eiffel Tower, which began to sparkle as the boat pulled in. Perfect.
Ended the evening with a light dinner at a cafe near the hotel, where I had a duck salad with flaming crepe Suzette’s for dessert. Delicious.
But it’s been a very long day, so off to bed as tomorrow brings another full day.... a city tour, Versailles, and a night tour and dinner of Montmartre.
