Malaysia truly Asia! We didn't quite think so although we did enjoy it. It has an interesting mixture of cultures; we loved the Indian food and every city we went to had a Little India and a China Town alongside the Malaysian areas. We tried as much Malaysian food as we could, our favourite was the chicken Rendang (thanks to Pat for the recommendation) but the Cendol was a very odd mixture of sweetness, shaved ice and beans.

We really enjoyed wandering round the old buildings in Penang which made a huge contrast to the monolithic towers of Kuala Lumpur. Tioman was even more of a contrast to the rest of Malaysia, the amount of lady boys was certainly different and the snorkelling was outstanding.

We did enjoy Malaysia but it didn't seem as friendly as the other countries of south east Asia, not so many smiles!
